Uganda’s Abel Chelangat won the 2025 Rabat International Marathon held on Sunday, 27th April in Morocco.
Chelangat clocked 2 hours, 9 minutes and 25 micro-seconds to champion the 42 KM race as he won a prize money of $15,000 (at least Ug.Shs 55,029,495.00).
Morocco’s Soufiyan Bouqantar (2:09:50) came second to claim silver with Yasin Haji Hayato (2:09:52) settling for bronze in third place

In February 2025, Chelangat was 6th in the fourth edition of Riyadh Marathon with a time of 2:08:49.
471 male participants competed in the main marathon of the 2025 Rabat International Marathon.
For the females; the top four positions were taken by the host country, Morocco.
Rahma Tahiri won gold with a timing of 2:25:02 ahead of Kaoutar Farkoussi (2:25:12).
Soukaina Atanane (2:25:46) finished third for the bronze.
Benhenia Hayat clocked 2:27:20 for fourth position as Aderra Bizuager Minalle was fifth with a timing of 2 28 27.


A total of 42 female athletes competed in the main marathon.
The Rabat International Marathon commenced in 2015 and this was the 8th edition after the skipping of three years (2020, 2021 and 2022) due to the COVID-19 pandemic that ravaged the entire world.
Over 35,000 participants graced the 8th edition of the Rabat International Marathon.
