For the first time since 1993, Tanzania giants Simba will play in a continental final after drawing goalless away to South Africa’s Stellenbosch to advance 1-0 on aggregate.
The result also means the Msimbazi become the second Tanzanian side to reach the Caf Confederation Cup final since introduction of the new format after rivals Young Africans earned the feat in 2022/23 before losing in the final to MC Alger on away goals rule.
Simba, home to Ugandan international Steven Mukwala will hope to go a step further and win it but must overcome Morocco’s RS Berkane.
The Moroccan club lost 1-0 to CS Constantine of Algeria in the second leg but had secured a huge 4-0 win in the reverse fixture in Morocco.
RS Berkane will host the first leg of the two legged final on May 17 before Simba hosts the return leg on May 25 in Dar es Salaam.
The competition winner will walk away with a trophy and prize money worth US $ 2 million (Ugx. Seven billion three hundred twenty-five million four hundred thirty-three thousand one hundred) with the runners up taking half of that.
