Overview:
The Championship of African Nations (CHAN) championship is played by players who feature in the respective domestic leagues on the African continent.
CHAN 2024 (Group B):
- Madagascar 2-0 Central African Republic
- Mauritania 1-0 Burkina Faso
Madagascar and Mauritania registered crucial victories during Group B of the on-going CHAN 2024 championship in East Africa.
Madagascar overcame a hard-fighting Central African Republic 2-0 at the Benjamin Mkapa National stadium in Dar-es-Salaam city during the early kick-off.
A goal in either half by Andriamirado Andrianarimanana and Toky Rakotondraibe inspired the islanders to their first victory in the championship which takes them to four points.

Central African Republic, playing on their national independence day suffered the third loss of the campaign.
They face tournament co-hosts Tanzania on Saturday, 16th August 2024 as Group B winds down.
With nine points in the coffer, Tanzania already sealed the knock out phase.


In the second match, Mauritania piped West Africans Burkina Faso 1-0 as they completed their group games of the tournament.
Alassane Diop, a midfielder playing with Busaiteen in the Mauritania top flight league scored a penalty in the 9th minute of the added time in the opening stanza.
Burkina Faso endured the entire second half with a man-less following the sending off of Abdoulaye Toure, a midfielder playing for ASFA Yennega in the Burkina Faso domestic league.


The West Africans are eliminated and will simply play for pride against Madagascar on Saturday, 16th August 2025 at the Amaan stadium in Zanzibar.

The tournament is being played in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar.
This is the first time that three countries are co-hosting the CHAN tournament, a precursor to the AFCON 2027 championship that will also be staged in East Africa.
