Kenzo misses out on Grammy as Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga win big

The 68th edition of the Grammys was a show-stopping affair on Sunday, at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.

Although Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo left empty-handed after South African Tyla won Best African Music Performance, Kenzo will have bragging rights for that Grammy nomination, for the rest of his life.

Kenzo was nominated for the category alongside Davido, Burna Boy, Omah Ley, Ayra Starr, among others. The Grammys, the most prestigious global music awards, are also some of the most detailed awards, recognizing every facet in the music-making business.

Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish and Lady Gaga have become constants at the Grammys, year after year, and 2026 was not different.

A few of the legends such as Bruce Springsteen, Gloria Estefan and Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir still managed to pick gongs this year, but most of your usual suspects were replaced by newcomers such as Doechii, Bad Bunny and Tyla.
