Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Joseph Put has named a 30-man provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Pu largely summoned a squad of players who have been engaged in recent games for Uganda, including the AFCON Qualifiers, World Cup Qualifiers and CHAN 2024.
Youngster James Bogere, who featured for Uganda Cubs at the just-concluded FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar, has been summoned.
Bogere, who has been lethal for the U17 team, gets his first call-up to the senior national team and will be in line for a spot in the final squad.
At the U17 World Cup, he scored two goals, one against France and the other against Canada.
Alhassan Baba and Melyvn Lorenzen, who earned their debuts in last month’s international window, featuring in friendlies against Morocco and Chad, are also part of the team.
The team is expected to depart for Morocco on Sunday evening to commence preparations. The training camp in Casablanca will run for 11 days before the final squad of 28 is confirmed.
In Morocco, Uganda Cranes is expected to play two international friendlies to fine-tune for the tournament that will run between 21st December 2025 to 18th January 2026.
Uganda is in Group C alongside Nigeria, Tunisia and Tanzania.
