How they qualified: The Taifa Stars finished as runners-up from a group that had DR Congo, Guinea and Ethiopia.

Against all odds, they overcame the Syli Nationale who even reported to CAF and later CAS but lost the case.

Tanzania scored just 5 goals in six matches and conceded one less, amassing 10 points, one better than Guinea who failed to qualify.

Realistic chance at Afcon 2025: Miguel Gamondi’s men will aim to get out of the group for the first time.

They had a decent CHAN tournament ousted by eventual winners Morocco in the quarter final and will be desperate to build on that. Will the change of coach have an impact for the better? We wait to see but as it stands, they are third favourites in the group that has two ex-champions and a finalist.
