Jackson Nicolas nets two as Senegal beat Botswana

Senegal secured a well-deserved 3-0 victory against Botswana in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) encounter at Grand Stade De Tanger Stadium on Tuesday.

Nicolas Jackson (brace) and Cherif Ndiaye were on target as Senegal got their tournament underway in style.

The Teranga Lions started off on the front foot as they sought an early goal against Botswana. Papa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye pulled the strings in the middle park.

Ndiaye wasted a huge opportunity to give Senegal in the 15th minute after a brilliant solo run but goalkeeper Goitseone Phoko made a stunning save.

Jackson and Sadio Mane came close to breaking the deadlock but where not sharp enough to beat goalkeeper Goitseone Phoko.

With five minutes to end the first stanza,Jackson finally placed Senegal in the driving seat after being set up by Ismail Jakobs in a team attack.

Jackson doubled Senegal’s lead after calmly controlling the ball before he slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.

In the final minute of the game, Ndiaye placed the icing on the cake after he kept his cool before finding the back of the net.
