Spotify is rolling out Audiobook Charts for users in the United States and the United Kingdom. According to the company’s blog post, the charts will make it easy for users to discover their “next favorite book by showing what’s popular and trending on Spotify.”
Updated weekly, the new charts will highlight the top audiobooks overall and by genre. These rankings are based on listening behavior and engagement on the platform. The Charts are accessible to both free and paid users within the app’s Audiobooks hub.
The move follows the company’s existing charts for music and podcasts, extending that same framework to audiobooks — a medium that has largely depended on publisher and retailer bestseller lists for visibility.
“As we’ve proven with Music and Podcasts Charts, when content is easier to access, discover, and enjoy, the demand grows,” said Duncan Bruce, Spotify’s Director of Audiobook Partnerships and Licensing. “We are delighted to now bring that to audiobooks, to help provide even more ways for users, publishers, and authors to discover what’s trending on Spotify, and make books more connected with culture in real time.”
To find the charts, users will have to tap “Search” in the app, select the Audiobooks tile, and then scroll down to the “Dive deeper” section.
Spotify says the launch is meant to benefit authors and publishers alongside listeners, giving books on the platform a shot at the kind of organic discovery momentum that a chart position can generate.
This announcement follows other recent audiobook features, including Page Match, which syncs your place between a print or e-book and the audiobook version, and Recaps, short audio summaries that catch you up on what you’ve already heard.
Spotify began including audiobook hours in its Premium subscription in 2023 and has been steadily expanding its audiobook offerings since.
